Experiences of Nurse Administrators and Clinical Nurses Working on COVID-19 Dedicated Hospitals: A Qualitative Study

Objective: To explore the nurse administrators' and clinical nurses' experiences of the COVID-19 outbreak in Bangladesh. Methods: A phenomenological study was conducted among 6 administrators and 24 clinical nurses from three COVID-dedicated hospitals in Bangladesh who were nominated by using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by in-depth interviews and analyzed by the method of content analysis. Results: Five major themes regarding the experiences of nurse administrators and clinical nurses' regarding COVID-19 emerged from data analysis. These are 1). Fear of Being Infected and Infecting the Family Members, 2). Lack of Training for Nurses, 3). New work experience, 4). Family and Social Stigma, and 5). Challenged for Health care Personnel. Conclusion: Findings of this study could be the source of baseline information that may replicate in the development of nurses' knowledge and experiences to manage COVID patients. In addition, it would be contributed to the policymaker for the management of any kind of pandemic situation in Bangladesh.
