A Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Defibrillation Procedure Among Staff Nurses in The Hospital, with a View to Developing Protocol

Defibrillation is an electric shock used to restore the heart's rhythm in a victim of cardiac arrest or dysrhythmias. The aim of the study is to determine whether staff nurses are familiar with defibrillation methods or not and to create the defibrillation process nursing care protocol. The quantitative exploratory research approach and descriptive research design were used, the samples for the present study consisted of 60 staff nurses at selected hospitals, the nonprobability purposive sampling technique was used for the study and the tool consisted of structured knowledge questionnaire items. The result of the study is the level of knowledge scores among staff nurses. The samples were having very good knowledge 29(48.33%), good knowledge 21 (35%) and 10 (16.67%) of them were having average knowledge. The detailed discussion of the findings of the study was interpreted from statistical analysis. Hence it is necessary to improve the knowledge of staff nurses who have an average score.
