It has a deep impact on both the mental and physical health of individuals. It’s vital to comprehend that perpetrators are responsible for sexual violence, not victims. Perpetrators feel that they are entitled and can use their power to commit acts of sexual violence. Alcohol and drugs are frequently used to incapacitate and take advantage of victims. Victims have to face problems like unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and psychological and emotional disorders. Section 354 of the IPC criminalises any person who assaults à wom an. This act is punishable by imprisonment of 2 years or a fine or both. According to Section 375 IPC, the punishment for rape is rigorous imprisonment of 7 years and a fine.
