Mushrooms are fungus that has been consumed since the dawn of time. They are a good source of nutritious food since they are low in calories and high in carbs, vital amino acids, fibre, critical vitamins and minerals. For millennia, mushrooms have been utilised in medicine. There are over 500 kinds of mushrooms reported from throughout the world, of which roughly 2000 are edible, and some of the edible species are being researched and validated for medicinal use. These have been discovered to stimulate the immune system, have anti-cancer properties, and function as anti-hypercholesterolemia and hepatoprotective agents, and many other benefits. Furthermore, as nutraceuticals, they have been shown to alleviate the stress and pressures of contemporary civilization by boosting both basic and secondary immune responses.
