Automatic Smart Dustbin Using IoT

Every human being disposes of rubbish in a trash can or other places. Degradable and non-degradable plastics make up the garbage. Everyone tries to place their trash only in the trash can or dustbin. Cities typically have a large number of public spaces with dustbins or trash cans that are overflowing. By measuring the garbage level in real-time and notifying the hostel administration once the bin is full, this concept introduces the creation of a smart garbage monitoring system. The suggested system included ultrasonic sensors mounted above the trash cans to measure the level of waste and compare it to the depth of the trash cans. Through Thinger.io, which uses a cloud to store the data, the system displays the state of the rubbish. The issue is that the way trash is now collected is inefficient, wasteful of time, and requires a lot of labour. When the trash is overloaded, it causes an unsanitary environment for the surroundings and produces a terrible stench that can lead to the spread of several serious diseases. It is anticipated that this system would be able to improve the environment by carefully monitoring and managing rubbish collection using the Internet of Things. To do this, the system uses ultrasonic sensors that are positioned over the bins to measure the rubbish level and compare it to the depth of the bins. The device uses a Wi-Fi modem and a microcontroller from the Arduino family to send data to a web server that tracks the garbage levels. The NodeMCU programming is set up so that when a certain amount of filling is detected, an information message asking for a clean-up is issued.
