Abstract

As per the ministry of road transport and highways, the number of registered motor vehicles is increasing drastically and reached more than three lakhs in the year 2020. It will keep on increasing considerably every year. Most of the vehicles are registered and used in urban areas like metropolitan cities. Parking is one of the major issues in the urban region because of the congested parking lots in the apartments and the shopping malls, causing accidents, especially for cars in the parking lots. A safety mechanism is required for the parking system to avoid accidents happening in the parking lots. To overcome this problem, we developed a model using Arduino Uno and an ultrasonic sensor that measures the distance between the module and an object. This proposed model can be implemented in two ways, firstly in the car because most accidents happen due to a false judgment of an object which resides very close to the car. Hence if we implement this module in the car then we can get the accurate distance between the car and any neighbouring vehicle. So, the accurate distance measurement of any object or neighboring vehicle from our car avoids minor accidents in slow-moving traffic or in the parking lot. Another way of implementing this module is in the parking lot itself. Each parking spot in the apartment or mall can implement this module to provide guidelines in the parking lot for proper lane monitoring. This model is a simple electronic device that provides safety to your car and also reduces the mild accidents happening frequently in congested areas and parking lots as well.
