Abstract

Our study investigates the determinants of the gender gap, interest level, and financial literacy since the stock market participation. The research aims to assess the factors that influence the stock market participation in terms of the structure of the gender gap, financial Literacy, and interest level and the elements that do not influence the stock market participation and examination of the connection between financial literacy, gender, and interest level in stock market participation by Individual investors and non-investors in Bangalore. The Quantitative and Qualitative research was implemented in this study by conducting a survey using the Simple Random Sampling method. The data was collected from 501 individuals consisting of men, females, and transgender with a closed-ended questionnaire. Comparative analysis, compare means, Two-way ANOVA, and regression were used to understand the gender gap, interest level, and financial literacy. Factor analysis was used to determine the relationship between financial literacy, gender, and interest level in stock market participation. Also, findings confirm that participation amongst transgender and female is lower than among males, but the study discloses that gender does not influence interest level. The result highlights that some factors like fluctuations, diversification, and time value of money affect stock market participation. As other factors do not affect the participation, there is no substantial association between gender, interest level, and financial literacy in stock market participation among the individuals from Bangalore.
