Abstract

The usage of non-linear loads in industries has expanded drastically over the years, which is a source of harmonic currents to be injected into the supply system. These harmonics cause a problem with power quality. Active power filtering is already an established technique for harmonic and neutral current compensation in four-wire alternating current systems. This paper presents the 3Leg-3Inductor topology of shunt active power filters (SAPF) used in a four-wire distribution system. Harmonics may be effectively eliminated with a SAPF. It also helps to reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) and neutral current. IPR theory, and usually applied control algorithm of SAPF, is employed in this study. This technique's modelling is done in MATLAB/Simulink.
