Equivalent Load Duration Curve based Maintenance Scheduling using Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization
Abstract
This paper presents an equivalent load duration curve (ELDC) based maintenance
scheduling (MS) of generators using chaotic improved binary particle swarm optimization
(CIBPSO). The objective of this paper is to reduce the loss of load probability (LOLP) and to
find new method of effective load carrying capacity (ELCC) for a power system using
probabilistic production simulation (PPS) method. To mitigate the effects of traditional
probabilistic levelized risk method. The PPS method is exploited to calculate ELCC of the
generators in a power system. Chaotic sequences are introduced in the improved particle
swarm optimization (IBPSO) for adjusting the weight to acquire diversified solutions in the
search space. Extensive case study on the real power system that include Thailand power
system show that the proposed algorithm can accomplish a significant levelization in the
reliability indices over the planning horizon, and it validates the suitability of the proposed
approach. The proposed method produces better result with improved search performance.
