Background: Nursing is a challenging profession that’s why it requires expertise in a broad range of knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide better care for society. Objective: The aim of this study is to identify the level of expectation and experiences of new nurses’ regarding coaching of nurse in-charges’. Method: Descriptive correlational study design was used in this study. A total number of 143 nurses were recruited by using a simple random sampling technique from Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal. A set of structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The instrument consisted of two parts (1) Demographic data questionnaire (DDQ) (2) Nurse in-chargers ‘coaching expectation and experience questionnaire (NICEQ & NICEQ) which was measured by 4 points Likert scale. Pearson correlation coefficient and t- test was used for data analysis. Result: The study findings showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between religion (t= -2.07, P = .04) and service experiences (t = -.25, P = .003) of new nurses with nurses’ expectation and experience regarding nurse in-charge coaching at hospital setting. The result also showed that new nurses’ were a high level of expectation (M=3.70, SD=.165) compared with nurses ‘experience (M=2.17, SD=.305) regarding coaching of nurses in charge at a hospital setting. Conclusion: The findings showed that new nurses’ had a high level of expectation than experiences regarding nurse in-charge coaching in a hospital setting. And also who have completed BSc /MPH had a high level of coaching expectation compared with a diploma in nursing. However, new nurses had a low level of experience compared with BSc and MPH regarding coaching of nurses in charge at a hospital. Therefore, hospital authorities should provide more coaching for diploma nurses to full fill their experience at the highest level which helps nurses to provide a high quality of patient care in critical conditions. This study will offer to use baseline data for further study.
