Abstract

A study to assess and analyze smart-phone addiction among young population in terms of selected variables at college of nursing, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. To achieve the objectives of the study analytical and inferential statistics was used. A structured questionnaire and addiction scale was developed based on extensive review of research and non-research literature. The sample size was fifty subjects were selected from college of nursing, Safdarjung Hospital. Data was collected by using structured questionnaire. Addiction assessment was based on structured questionnaire and addiction scale assessment was categorized into mild addiction (18−30), moderate addiction (31−42) and severe addiction (43−54). The study finding showed, that 31.25% of the subjects have disturbed sleep, 37.5% have decreased physical activity, and 31.25% have impaired relationship status due to smartphone addiction. Majority of the subjects have moderate smartphone addiction (76%).
