A Descriptive Study to Determine the Adjustment Problems Among 1st year Nursing Students of Selected Nursing Colleges at Yamuna Nagar, Haryana

Background: Nursing students are constantly facing a wide range of challenges throughout the college life. Age, education level, year of nursing experiences all have been found to influences students’ attitudes towards adjustment problems. Objectives: To assess the adjustment problems faced by the 1st year nursing students of selected nursing colleges at Yamuna Nagar. To find the association between selected demographic variables and the adjustment problems among the 1st year nursing students of selected nursing colleges at Yamuna Nagar. Materials and methods: The quantitative research approach was conducted among 100 1st year nursing students in selected colleges at Yamuna Nagar. The subjects were selected by non-probability convenient sampling method. Socio-demographic profile and Self structured rating scale was administered to assess the adjustment problems. The collected data was analyzed statistically using SPSS version 16. Result: The study found that samples had mild and moderate adjustment problems are 61% and 39% respectively. The study finding implies that majority of the sample faces academics and hostel as the major problem. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is a mild adjustment problem among 1st year nursing students of selected nursing colleges at Yamuna Nagar.
