Tempero-Mandibular Joint-Age Changes and Imaging
Keywords:
Age, Digital panoramic radiography, Temporomandibular JointAbstract
The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) undergoes remodeling throughout one’s lifetime. This process is closely related to the temporomandibular function, and morbid changes are more likely to occur if this system is not functioning normally. Several studies on bone changes in patients with TMD are conducted but limited literature exists on prevalence of bone changes and imaging modalities of TMJ with advancing age in asymptomatic patients and patients at risk. The following article gives a glimpse on the past, present and future imaging modalities.
