The demand for electric energy is increasing day by day. As a result, to balance the supply and demand chains, the dilatability of power production must also be boosted. Instead of generating electric power from conventional energy sources, renewable energies could be thought of, due to considerable longitude and latitude alignment in our country. A photovoltaic module transfers light (photo) energy into an electrical form of energy. However, the need for an hour is to appropriately model the photovoltaic module and extract the inferences in terms of performance characteristics. Currently, the literature survey validates that there are many models to represent a solar cell/PV system. Amongst the prevailing models, a model whose inference is close to the manufacturer’s specifications is to be identified. Thus, in this work, an attempt is made to evaluate different PV models and simulate the same using SIMULINK tools to study the performance and compare it with the manufacturer's specification sheet. The simulation results are tabulated and used to validate the model.
