“Energy Audit” is the Systematic approach for decision-making in the field of energy management. The Energy audit focuses mainly on total energy consumption of the equipments especially on air-conditioning system, lighting, Fans etc. The energy audit leverages significance due to the fact that the GCT, Coimbatore electricity bill had crossed Rs. 62 lakh during the calender year 2020. It aims at obtaining a detailed data about the various end use of energy consumption activities and identifying, evaluating the possible energy savings opportunities. The target is to achieve savings in the electrical energy consumption to the extent of 20% to 30%. In this case study, a detailed study has been made to reduce the electrical energy consumption in the complete Dr.JJ Rudra Block building in GCT. It highlights the number of energy savings obtained in an academic establishment thereby energy crisis will be reduced significantly. Energy savings per year lies in 19328 kWh throughout the process. Total Cost reduction per year is Rs. 1,23,312.64/-. By implementing the suggested recommendations, there will be an energy reduction of around 20% of cost reduction.
