Abstract

At present days, the electricity demand is drastically progressing in the world, which pushes
the power system into smart grid technology. Smart grid technology uses open standard
intelligent communication to calculate real time conditions like system stability, performance
of the equipment, congestion in power system network, and several blackouts, outages and
energy demand responses. Even though in smart grid, Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA) technology can place important role, but due to low speed sampling
there is a need for upgrade it. In this paper, a new technology known as Phasor measurement
unit which is also known as synchro phasor measurement technology is implemented.
Synchro phasor technology also called as phasor measurement unit works with real time and
accurate monitoring with good sampling of electrical parameters with actual system
conditions.
