Abstract

With the increased demand for electricity the penetration of distributed generation (DGs)
into distribution network has increased. The efficient operation of the distribution system
after the interconnection is highly dependent on optimum location and sizing of distributed
generation units. While planning the integration the uncertainty associated with the
generation from the DG sources should also be considered. With the advancement in powerelectronics-based converters, the voltage/current control issues could be effectively solved
using the DG units. In this paper a probabilistic index is used to measure the voltage in the
buses of the distribution system. Using this index different types of DG are allocated to the
system. The proposed method is applied to IEEE 30 bus systems and it is implemented in
MATLAB.
