Design of Corona Cage for Minimizing the Steady Corona Inception Voltage

Abstract

The main objective of the project is to find the power loss occurs in a transmission line during corona. The Experiment was done for different types of conductor with various dimensions. In the proposed work, a small indoor corona cage is designed to investigate the corona loss on practical HVAC and HVDC conductor. The corona test was carried out under different surface condition and different composition of the conductors. The power loss due to corona in AC Transmission line is 3 to 5% of the total transmission power.
