Inspection of Multilayered Cascaded Inverters

Abstract

To the execution of STATCOM (Satellite Communications) upon an appropriate high voltage
and current level, there is requirement of high power VSC. But we have semiconductor
devices, which are very limited to execute in high voltage and current ratings and therefore,
it is very difficult to join a switch of semiconductor device directly to medium voltage
networks (2.2-6.8 kV). One solution to this problem is to use multilayered VSC (Voltage
Sourced Converter) to improve the output voltage. The multilayered inverters having a
number of capacitor voltage starting power points and semiconductors, Output voltages of
Multilayered Inverters include the additions of the capacitor voltages due to the commutation
of the switches.
