It revolves
around establishing wireless communication
standards between devices and appliances to
enhance daily human life. This particular
project aims to create a secure and automated
home environment by monitoring and
controlling various home appliances using
Wi-Fi as the primary communication
protocol. Traditionally, wireless
communication techniques like Wi-Fi and
Bluetooth have been utilized for home
automation. However, these methods have
limitations such as short range and high costs.
To overcome these challenges, this paper
proposes the techniques of comfy home
automation involve the efficient management
of appliances like lights and fans, which not
only provide convenience but also save time,
reduce the need for manual intervention,
enhance home security, and send SMS alerts
to the owner in case of fire accidents or gas
leakages through a dedicated mobile
application. Additionally, it aims to train the
virtual assistant to engage in enjoyable
interactions with the homeowner, further
enhancing the user experience. To implement
this, this work utilizes the
"NodeMCUESP8266" module, which will
serve as the foundation for our system. The
integration of this technology will prove
especially beneficial for individuals who are
physically challenged, elderly, or frequently
away from home due to their busy schedules.
By leveraging the power of IoT and mobile
applications, this paper suggests a smart
home automation solution that caters to the
specific needs and preferences of
homeowners, ultimately enhancing their
quality of life.
Balasubramanian N, Ruba A, Rasina Begum, Mohamed Rafi M, Ferthous Fathima S Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of IoT Security and Smart Technologies (e-ISSN:2583-6226) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JISST/article/view/4121 Fri, 25 Aug 2023 00:00:00 +0530 Detection of Water Leakage using IoT http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JISST/article/view/4300
Water is a basic and valuable asset required
for survival. The vast majority of the region
on the planet Earth is secured with water. But
only a small percentage of water is directly
consumable by living beings. Water needs to
be used very wisely so that it will be useful for
future generations. The primary objective of
this project is to design IoT-based “Detection
of water leakage” system. Transportation of
water assets is made simple by usingsynthetic
pipelines. Spillage comprises a noteworthy
loss of water when provided through pipeline
frameworks. Here, we areproposing a system
that can detect the leakages, checking and
controlling water supply in pipelines as
quickly as time permits to stay away from
wastage of water assets. Detection of water
leakage using an embedded system costeffectively helps in conservation of water.
Priyanka H S, Sowmyashree A, M Dakshayini Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of IoT Security and Smart Technologies (e-ISSN:2583-6226) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JISST/article/view/4300 Fri, 29 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0530 The Internet of Things: Securing Smart Technologies for the Mobile Age http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JISST/article/view/4405
As smart technologies continue to be
integrated into our daily routines, the
Internet of Things (IoT) has become
increasingly widespread. However, with this
rise in IoT, security has become a major
concern. In this article, we will explore how
mobile developers can ensure the security of
IoT devices, with a particular focus on smart
home systems, wearables, smart cities, and
industrial IoT. With so many interconnected
devices, the risk of security breaches is higher,
potentially resulting in the loss of sensitive
data and even physical harm. Therefore,
robust security measures must be in place to
protect IoT devices and systems. To achieve
this, mobile developers must carefully
consider techniques such as encryption,
authentication, and access control to identify
best practices for securing IoT systems.
Encryption involves converting data into a
code that is unreadable to unauthorized users,
while authentication verifies user or device
identity, and access control limits access to
specific resources or areas. In addition,
mobile developers should assess the potential
of emerging technologies such as blockchain
and AI to create stronger IoT security
frameworks. Blockchain provides a
decentralized and immutable ledger of
transactions, making it an ideal candidate for
securing IoT devices, while AI can analyze
vast amounts of data in real-time, identifying
potential threats before they can cause harm.
To ensure that IoT devices remain secure,
mobile developers must stay up to date with
the latest security threats and technologies
and always use best practices.
S. Our system is
productively grouped around an Arduino
microcontroller, capitalizing on solar energy
harnessing during periods of inactivity.
During the irrigation process, the system
autonomously traverses predetermined paths
across the farm terrain, meticulously gauging
soil moisture levels and temperature at
regular intervals. The data accrued from an
array of sensors at each juncture undergoes
localized processing to gauge the necessity of
irrigation, allowing for precise and efficient
watering.
Given the recurrent power shortages
experienced in Indian villages, our system
seamlessly switches to a solar-powered energy
supply in the event of grid disconnects,
ensuring the uninterrupted operation of vital
components. This inherent adaptability is a
testament to the robust nature of our IoT
device. It transmits the multifaceted sensor
data to a remote server via a Wi-Fi link.
At the remote server, the raw data is
subjected to a series of signal processing
operations such as filtering, compression and
predictive analysis. We must
make sure that farmers have access to the
resources they require because they are the
backbone of any country. Conventional
methods such as scarecrows are still used in
agricultural fields today to keep animals and
birds away from growing crops because of the
numerous shortcomings in these ideas,
improvising agricultural security has grown
to be a major issue in the contemporary
world. Thus, the primary objective of this
work is to propose a system that can detect
trespassers, monitor any suspicious activity,
and then alert the owner of the field. It serves
as an adaptable system that provides farmers
with a practical means of ensuring the overall
security of their farmlands against any
attacks or trespassing activities. This project
makes use of an Arduino Nano, a laser light, a
buzzer, an LDR that only emits straight lines,
a 180°-sensing PIR sensor, and simple
software. With the aid of these devices, we
can easily and quickly set up a security alarm
for trespassers anywhere. This paper is not
restricted to any particular area or structure;
it can be completed anywhere. A multitude of
valuable objects, such as jewels, diamonds,
priceless antiques in museums, and many
more, are also protected by an invisible laser
beam. The concept of electric fencing was
created to keep the animals out of the farms.
Nitesh Gaikwad, Sravan K.
