Finite element analysis of two stage force transducer

In the design of force transducer strain gauge capacity plays an important role. Force transducer capacity depends on the deformation limit of strain gauge in terms of micro strain. Typical double octonary rings with stopper in upper hole are used in force transducer On this vertical octonary ring shape force transducer for initial loading upper ring will be in deforming stage and after touching the stopper to lower surface lower ring will be in deformation .So for light loading initial stiffness of force transducer element will be lower than in the heavy loading condition to cause decrease the sensitivity for heavy loading Software Ansys 14.0 based on finite element method is used for carrying out simulations. In this research multi-capacity dual ring force transducers are designed and evaluated as a facility in the force measurement field. The force transducer works in compression mode with two ranges 0 to 42.5 and 42.5 to 100 kg. The design concept increases the stiffness of the force transducer element as the capacity is being changed.
