Abstract

This review paper conducts a comprehensive comparative study focused on the performance analysis of Parabolic Trough Solar Water Heaters (PTSWH) utilizing a range of reflector materials in conjunction with and without a glass cover. The investigation encompasses the evaluation of traditional polished aluminum reflectors, advanced silvered film reflectors, and innovative nano-coated reflectors, assessing their respective impacts on system efficiency and energy yield. Furthermore, the study examines the influence of incorporating a glass cover on thermal efficiency, considering aspects such as heat retention, optical losses, and overall system effectiveness. In addition to the technical analysis, an economic assessment is undertaken to determine the cost-effectiveness and financial feasibility of the diverse configurations, encompassing installation expenses, maintenance requirements, and potential energy savings. By integrating findings from optical, thermal, and economic dimensions, this review paper furnishes valuable insights for researchers, engineers, and policymakers, facilitating informed decision-making in the design and deployment of optimized PTSWH systems across varying environmental contexts.
