Yoga for School Students: A Review

The word „Yoga‟ has its origin from the Sanskrit word “YOKE” which refers to „to unite‟ or „to join‟. Yoga tends to provide a holistic approach where the physical, mental, social & spiritual wellbeing is focused. Yoga is a compilation of body movements, breathing techniques, and meditation that unites physical and mental well-being. Being a schooler, the individual will lose their childlike behaviour and tend to develop as an adult for the upcoming life. Anxiety disorders, Depression, Panic attacks, Adjustment disorders, Mood disorders, Internet Addiction Disorder, Behavioral problems, Eating disorders, Sleep disorders, Suicidal intentions etc. Hence it is important to inculcate yoga practice for school students. Few asanas like Vajrasana, Tadasana, Katichakrasana, Uttana-mandukasana, Simhasana, Bhujangasana, Makarasana, Shavasana are beneficial to the students.
