Abstract

Pure water is a basic need of each and every
living organism on earth. But on earth fresh
water is an only 3% available in the phase of
ice, rivers and ground water. By using solar
still, it is possible to produce fresh and clean
water. The sun energy is a renewable source
of energy but because of less productivity
various modifications are done in solar still. It
is possible to Investigate and improvement in
performance of Solar Still by using combined
enhancement methods of thermal energy
storage and finned surface for desalination of
water by varying fin height and fin numbers.
The objective of this review paper is to
investigate performance of solar still by using
energy storage material that means phase
change material (PCM) and to increase rate of
heat transfer by using fins at base of solar still.
