Abstract

In rotating machines such as turbo-pumps,

compressors, turbines and in many other

rotating machines different types of bearings and

support systems have been used to get desired

performance and stability limits. Generation of

high-power density is the trend of these

machines, which demands that rotor should

operate at high rotating speed above the critical

speeds. But there is a big challenge for flexible

rotor to pass the critical speeds and operate at

those speeds steadily and reliably under low

vibration, and stable conditions. This article is

aimed to present with design, modelling, analysis

of flexible rotor with suitable bearing

parameters. The dynamic analysis of the rotor is

the foundation of the design, hence modal

analysis will be done and also the rotor dynamic

properties like natural frequency, mode shape

and Campbell diagram will be obtained for a

rotor shaft system.
