Abstract

This study presents testing and optimization

of solar still at three different glasses tilts

angles (11°, 26° and 41°) and water depths (4,

5 and 10 cm) for Gwalior climatic condition.

Experiment is performed in the winter season

and find out the optimum angle and water

depth for winter climatic condition. Optimal

tilt angle and water depth were found to be

41° and 4 cm respectively for the winter

season. It was revealed that as the water level

is decreased, productivity was increased. 4 cm

water depth and 41° glass tilt angle gives

maximum 1430 ml/day distilled water

compare to other water depth and tilt angle.

41° glass tilt angle and 4 cm water depth also

obtained maximum evaporative, radiative

and convective, heat transfer coefficient

(HTC).
