Effectiveness of Fins and its Analysis using C Programming

Abstract

Our day-to-day life is just incomplete without an engine within which a huge amount of heat is generated by the combustion of fuels resulting in thermal stresses on the engines. Since all the heat generated cannot be dissipated even though engines are made of good conductive material, the idea of extended surfaces called fins is implemented. Fins play a vital role in dissipating the heat from the engines to the surroundings and helping them in cooling. This paper focuses on the parameters that aid in the heat transfer through fins and how the effectiveness of the fins is affected by these parameters and analysis using C programming is carried out.
