Through this study, the heat treatment process (Quenching) is studied for optimization and efficiency enhancement. In heat treatment, Fluid and Surface interaction plays a vital role in determining the resultant properties of the component. To determine the temperature gradient on the surface of component and component fluid interaction by physical measurement is not a feasible option with each variation in process. So, to have a clear idea of these properties and fluid behavior CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation is necessary. Also, in experimental methods for variation in parameters like the velocity of the fluid, change in cooling fluid or quenchant, time variation, etc. Will take a substantial amount of time and instrumental error will be present. So CFD simulation along with a few experimental validations will be efficient tool to serve the purpose of optimization of the Quenching Process.
