Globally and locally major strides have been achieved in fighting CC including early screening and vaccinations including HPV vaccine. Accurate, timely and reliable information accessibility and utilization is instrumental in informing decision making towards prevention and management of all diseases. Despite being a major health problem in Kenya, screening services for cervical cancer are available; however, the use of information after screening is scarcely used. We therefore conducted a study to investigate utilization of cancer screening services information, and its associated factors among health care providers in selected hospitals in Machakos County. Method: The study adopted analytical cross-sectional survey that used both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study design involved administering interviews and questionnaires to a sample of the population. The target population comprised of health workers who are involved in cervical data collection, those who work at reproductive health department and those at management level. Risk factors for services utilization were assessed using logistic regression analysis. Results: Out of 283 participants, only 273 (96.4 %) duly completed the questionnaires. Utilization of cervical cancer data was 41.3 % among those the participants. Use of cervical cancer data for patient follow up was 43.04 times more likely to improve cervical data utilization than using the data for determining cervical cancer coverage (AOR=43.044, 95% CI [16.087-115.174], P< .001). Also, using the collected data for budgeting and planning was 10.88 more likely to improve cervical cancer data utilization than using the data for determining cervical cancer coverage (AOR=10.887, 95% CI [3.208-36.884], P< .001). The participants who were trained on cervical cancer data interpretation were 3.818 times more likely to utilize cervical cancer data than those who were not trained (AOR=3.818, 95% CI [1.839-7.928], P< .001). Conclusion: The study has demonstrated use of the collected data and training of health care workers on interpretation of the data was key factors that can improve utilization of cervical cancer data.
Abednego N. The objectives of the study were to assess the pretest and post-test knowledge scores among the experimental and control groups, to determine the effectiveness of the structured teaching program by comparing the post-test knowledge scores of the experimental and control groups, and to determine the association of pretest knowledge score with selected demographic variables. A true experimental one-group pretest- post-test design was chosen. The study was executed in St Mary’s Arts and Science College, Sultan Bathery. A sample of 60 male students was selected by using a simple random sampling technique, 30 were selected as experimental, and 30 as a control group by the same method. Consent was taken from each participant. A questionnaire including 2 sections were provided to the samples. Pretest was conducted on both the control and experimental groups, but the experimental group alone received the structured teaching program. After a week, a post-test was conducted on both experimental and control groups and an information booklet was provided to the control group. The results showed that, when comparing the post-test knowledge score of the experimental and control groups, the experimental group showed good performance after the structured teaching program; where the p-value was less than 0.05(0.001) which is statistically significant. Hence found that the research hypothesis has been accepted. Also, the association of the pretest knowledge score with selected demographic variables showed as insignificant; except for the previous knowledge which implied a p-value of 0.012(0.05). The research findings are formulated as in the fact that the structured teaching program administered among the samples is effective, which underlines that, our research fulfilled its objective.
Sandra Maria Jose, Sudaid, Tania Jaison, Vishnupriya V, Varsha Varkey, Leya Philip, Pinky George Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Midwifery, Women Health And Gynaecological Nursing (e-ISSN: 2582-3094) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMWHGN/article/view/4284 Fri, 22 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0530 A Pre-Experimental Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge of Primi Mothers Regarding Breast Feeding Problems and its Management in Selected Hospitals of Dhar (MP) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMWHGN/article/view/4394
Background of the Study: Breastfeeding is the most effective way to ensure child health. It is the best infant food. The growing infant is highly affected by their first nutrition by breast-milk of the Mother. Exclusive breastfeeding starts as soon as possible after birth up to two years old child. Need of the Study: The Neonatology Forum of India has served as a leading crusader and catalyst to improve newborn health in India. During the last 15 years or so the forum has made outstanding contributions towards the improvement and survival of newborn babies by celebrating “The National Newborn Week” from 15 to 21 November every year. Efforts are made to improve simple cost-effective strategies like exclusive breastfeeding and colostrum feeding. Breastfeeding prevents Diarrhoea and respiratory tract disorders. Fourteen times less mortality was found from Diarrhoea and four times less mortality by respiratory tract disorders and other infections compared to non-breastfeed children. A prospective study titled “Maternal Antibodies in Breast Milk Protect the Child from Enterovirus Infections” was conducted among 150 infants in Finland. The above findings reveal that exclusive breastfeeding for a longer duration helps in reducing enterovirus infections. In developing countries like India, the exclusive breastfeeding rate is comparatively low and this can be promoted by providing education and information about exclusive breastfeeding.
Uma Chouhan Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Midwifery, Women Health And Gynaecological Nursing (e-ISSN: 2582-3094) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMWHGN/article/view/4394 Sat, 21 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0530
