Abstract

The reason for establishing International Classification of Disease is to allow the systematic recording, analysis, interpretation and comparison of mortality and morbidity statistics gathered in various nations or regions and at different periods. It helps to analyze the general health of population and to monitor the incidence and prevalence of diseases and other health problems in relation to other variables such as characteristics and circumstance of the individual affected. ICD classification was based on classification structure proposed by William Farr.
