Abstract

The main aim of this article is to summarize the entire National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill (NNMC bill), to identify the key features included in this bill and to critically analyze both the INC and NNMC Bills. With the implementation of NNMC, the INC Act, which is more than 75 years old, will be repealed. This bill has brought in many new features like clarification of various definitions like Public health, community health, nursing care, nursing practice etc. Common eligibility cum entrance test in English, emphasized nursing education along with nursing practice, clinical nursing, community or public health nursing, clinical nursing practitioner and many more. This new bill has also brought light many such lagging points that were overlooked in the previous Nursing Act. I am hopeful this new bill will bring new hopes and focus more on upholding the dignity and standards of the Nursing Profession.
