Abstract

Background: Omicron is a type variation of SARS-COV-2 disease belonging to the family Coronaviridae. It is reported for the first time in South Africa. Ideally, this condition is propagated by interaction near infected droplets having an incubation period between inhalation 2 to 14 days. Today, there are thousands of infections and deaths caused by this disease. In addition, the symptoms of the disease include fever, Loss of smell and taste, cough, sneezing, fatigue, Pain throat, Shortness or difficulty in breathing, and loss of confusion. Additionally, the diagnosis of the disease begins with the collection of samples of the upper and lower respiratory extension of the infected person. Also, PCR tests, chest x-rays, CT scan and Sequencing and genotyping is used in the diagnosis stage. Basically, there is no exact treatment of this disease, and this requires the need to prevent the distribution of the disease. An notable prevention strategies are isolation of the infected persons, hand washing, people continue to ventilate closed space, cough and sneeze sneezing curved elbows, avoid close contact and crowding places, get vaccinated and use of personal protective equipment. Thus, this paper provides detailed information on Omicron variant, as it discusses the disease characteristics, consequences, transmission, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
