A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans, recently it has been identified in china. Rapidly spreading infection in china and Middle East countries, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and USA in recent days. This deadly virus claimed 800 plus lives and positive cases reported were more than 30,000 across the china and other countries, still rapidly spreading this virus and not controlled after sincere effort taken by China, W.H.O and CDC. Hence “World Health Organisation declares that the Corona Virus infection is a Global Health Emergency”. Common signs and symptoms: Respiratory symptoms, Fever, and cough and Shortness of breath. But sometimes asymptomatic cases also found. Currently there is no treatment available to cure this viral infection. Prevention includes: Regular hand washing, Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing, Covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and eat better and perfectly cooked non-veg items/dishes.
2020-03-03T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nurses Voice and Impact (e-ISSN: 2582-7812) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JNVI/article/view/4895 Prevalence of Level of Anemia and Risk Factors among the Antenatal women attending Antenatal Clinic at Selected Hospitals, Puducherry 2024-04-30T16:51:41+0530 Pradeepa. Various factors may influence the hemoglobin status of women and increase the risk for iron deficiency anemia especially during pregnancy. Methodology: The Quantitative approach and Descriptive research design was used for the study. 90 Antenatal women who fulfil the inclusion criteria and available during the data collection period were selected using Purposive sampling technique. Self - developed questionnaire was used to collect the data using interview method. Results: The study revealed that Majority 80% of the antenatal women had moderate anemia, 17.78% of the antenatal women had mild anemia and least 2.22% of the antenatal women had severe anemia. There was a statistically significant association between Prevalence of level of anemia with Risk factors such as duration of initiation of IFA supplementation, dosage of Inj. Iron sucrose administered and treatment for anemia at p < 0.001. Conclusion: This study concluded that moderate level of anemia was highly prevalent among antenatal mothers attending Antenatal clinic at selected hospitals. Also, Risk factors such as treatment for anemia, of dosage of Inj. Iron Sucrose administered and duration of initiation of Iron and folic acid supplementation were more likely to influence the prevalence of anemia in the antenatal period. It suggests that more awareness and importance to preconceptional care must be created to prevent women entering into the pregnancy with low iron stores causing iron deficiency anemia.
2020-04-29T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nurses Voice and Impact (e-ISSN: 2582-7812) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JNVI/article/view/4896 A Descriptive Study to Assess the Choice of Birth among the Antenatal Mothers in Selected Hospital at Pondicherry 2024-04-30T17:03:36+0530 Stella. If there was complication with pregnancy or labour, a caesarean birth is safer than vaginal birth. All operations carry some risk. A caesarean involves major surgery and complication. Sometimes, a caesarean birth is needed to save the life of a mother or baby, in which case it is without question the safest option. Over the past several decades, research regarding the risks and benefits of caesarean delivery as compared with vaginal delivery has proliferated, yet which delivery method is best, and for whom, is still unresolved. Aim: This study was aimed to assess the choice of birth among the antenatal mothers. Subject and Methods: A descriptive study was conducted among antenatal mothers in antenatal ward in selected hospital puducherry. Sample size was 80, selected through purposive sampling. Data collected by using structured interview schedule related to socio demographic and obstetrical variables such as age, education, income, gravida, occupation, residence and choice of birth. Results: Majority 72 (90%) of the mothers were in the age group of below 20- 30 years, 38(47.5%) of mothers had secondary education. 58 (73%) of mothers were having the family income of above 5000, 78 (98%) of mothers were homemakers, 45(56%) of mothers were residing in urban area, 52(65%) of mothers were primi gravida 76 (95%) of mothers were preferring normal delivery. There was no statistically significant association of choice of birth with any of the socio demographic and obstetrical variables of antenatal mothers Conclusion: The study revealed that majority of the mothers preferring normal delivery irrespective of age income, education, residence, gravida, and occupation. Moreover expressing the choice either vaginal or caesarean birth was inherently problematic until the time of delivery, unless the mothers necessarily choose the choice.
2020-04-30T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nurses Voice and Impact (e-ISSN: 2582-7812) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JNVI/article/view/4897 To Assess the Effectiveness of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) on Health Behaviour of Adolescence with Smartphone Addiction in Selected School at Kanyakumari District 2024-04-30T17:19:07+0530 P. Femila femila.sujeevan@gmail.com Jebin J. Felix femila.sujeevan@gmail.com Santhi Appavu femila.sujeevan@gmail.com
Background of the study: In India, large number of adolescents are vastly addicted to the adverse effects of uncontrollability of Smartphone use. This new type of addiction encounters social, psychological and health behaviour problems in schools and homes and had an impact in their daily activities. Hence it is the time of researchers to implement some relaxation techniques, to restore from this compulsive behaviour. Aim of the study: To assess the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on health behaviour of adolescence with Smartphone addiction in selected school at Kanyakumari district. Methods: One group pre-testpost-test pre experimental design was used for this study. 33 adolescents with Smartphone addiction are selected as samples using purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted in Abraham Memorial Higher Secondary School, Maruthancode. Progressive Muscle Relaxation technique is practiced as an intervention for the study. Pilot Study was conducted to find out the feasibility of the study. Results: Health behaviour of adolescents was assessed using both externalizing behaviour tool and internalizing behaviour tool in pre-tests and post-tests’. The effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation among health behaviour of adolescents with Smartphone addiction was statistically very highly significant (P<0.001).There is no significant association between the level of health behaviour and the demographic variables such as age, gender at (P=1.00), religion, area of living, type of family, income of family, interest in Smartphone and average time of using Smartphone, at (P>0.05).Conclusion: Progressive Muscle Relaxation technique has more favourable effect on improving positive health behaviours of adolescence with Smartphone addiction.
2020-05-19T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nurses Voice and Impact (e-ISSN: 2582-7812) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JNVI/article/view/4898 Image Series: Morphological Changes in Diabetic Foot 2024-05-01T12:58:09+0530 Gurmeet Singh Sarla rijak1@gmail.com
Foot disease affects a number of people with diabetes mellitus and may present as clawing of toes, hallux valgus, hammer toes, valgus and varus deformities. These toe deformities are a result of an imbalance between the extrinsic and intrinsic foot muscles upsetting the fragile harmony among flexors and extensors of the toes causing foot and toe ulcers. Diabetic neuropathy is the underlying pathology behind these morphological changes in diabetic foot. These morphological changes affecting foot and toes predispose the foot to ulcers, infection, gangrene and amputation. This image series shows various morphological changes of foot and toes in patients with long standing diabetes mellitus leading to different foot and toe deformities. Patient education about foot care and footwear is of utmost importance to forestall complications and improved personal satisfaction of the patients experiencing diabetic foot and toe deformities. Improper footwear is the most widely recognized cause of trauma and patients with diabetes ought to be taught regarding usage of appropriate footwear.
2020-05-29T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nurses Voice and Impact (e-ISSN: 2582-7812) http://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JNVI/article/view/4899 Gaucher Disease: A Critical Overview 2024-05-01T14:40:43+0530 Rangappa. It is caused by the deficiency of lysosomal enzyme that is Beta glucocerbrosidase. It leads to deposition of the glucocerebroside in cells of the macrophage-monocyte system. The incidence rate of Gaucher disease is approximately 1 in 40,000 to 1 in 60,000 in general population. There are three main type of Gaucher disease that is Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 and Perinatal lethal Gaucher disease. Features of Gaucher disease are Splenomegaly, Hepatomegaly, Bone infarction, interstitial lung disease. Restrictive pericarditis, Damage to the brain. Enzyme testing, DNA analysis are the main diagnostic evaluation of Gaucher disease. Enzyme replacement therapy and Subtract reduction therapy are the specific treatment modalities. The correct and early diagnosis helps avoiding complication of Gaucher disease.
2020-07-19T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nurses Voice and Impact (e-ISSN: 2582-7812)
