Maximum Power Point Tracking Performance Analysis by Perturb and Observe (P & O) Algorithm

Abstract

PV cell is based on Photovoltaic Effect, which a converts solar energy into electrical energy. Solar cells are extensively used in space and earthly applications. Still solar cell has low efficiency to utilize its max energy it must operate at condition known as maximum power point. This point varies with different parameter like cloudy condition, partial shading, illumination, temperature and other ageing effects. In this research work, we will present most commonly used MPPT methods (P and O) for a photovoltaic cell and assess its strengths/weaknesses by using MATLAB Simulink.
