Ultimately there is a need for roads has become
globally requirement; bitumen appeared as an
ideal binder for construction of both the
pavement structure and the BC course quite
quickly. Flexible pavements are currently the
most frequently used in India with bituminous
surface finish. A few limitations have also been
identified by exponential increase in traffic,
overloaded vehicles and major changes in
seasonal temperatures and also in day to day
temperatures have identified some drawbacks in
conventional
bitumen
results.
Modified
bituminous binders are used to achieve a longer
lifespan for wearing courses depends mostly on
filler ratio and type of fillers utilized. Modified
bitumen is use in the road construction with the
purpose of the reducing problems like rutting,
cracking and stripping. These polymer modified
bitumen are beneficial in controlling rutting and
cracking. Use of the Modified bituminous
materials are to achieve long lifespan of
highway, decrease road maintenance cost also
construction cost, ultimately savings in overall
cost of road.
