Abstract

Water fort is one of the other scenic structures
of the Mughal period. This water fort is an
important
military
example of ancient
architecture. Water Fort and Palace Fort, these
two issues aroused a lot during the Mughal
period. Although the palace fort was located in
those Bengal, the water fort system was in
operation. Every military outpost in this ancient
water fort. It is only during the Mughal period
that the precedent of undertaking projects like
water forts to conduct wars and maintain one's
own existence was seen. These ancient forts
include Sonakanda fort, Idrakpur fort, Hajiganj
fort, Dapa fort, Beg Murad fort, Fatulla fort,
Kalagachhia fort, Jinjira fort, Pagla fort etc. All
but three of these ancient water forts are almost
extinct. The history and name of this fort have
been mentioned by people from time to time.
The names of these forts are found in many
history books, documents and manuscripts.
Looking at the location and boundaries of the
water fort, it seems that there is a relationship
between them. It is understood that the water
fort has a continuous boundary. In this case; we
have to work with the common people. They
need to be exposed to the proper values of the
water fort. The government's tourism
departments, the culture ministry, the
archeological department, the city corporation
all have to work together. First of all you need a
complete documentation about the water fort.
The task of our paper is to provide detailed
documentation of the water forts, considering
the overall aspect of the water forts and finding
out the connection line of their location and
boundaries. Besides, to determine the realities of
what kind of necessary measures can be taken to
keep the water forts alive.
