This paper compares the seismic response of a 12 storey fixed- base R.C.C. building, with the base-isolated building which is isolated by Triple Friction Pendulum Bearings (TFPBs). The seismic responses were determined by Fast Non-Linear (FNA) time history analysis. 12 storey special moment resisting frames (S.M.R.F.) located at seismic zone V as per IS 1893: 2016 is taken and seismic responses such as base shear, storey drift, absolute acceleration and fundamental time period of the structure are compared between the fixed and base isolated structures. The results show that TFPB as base isolator is extremely effective in increasing the fundamental time period and decreasing the remaining seismic response parameters.
