Preliminary Study on Use of Foamed Bitumen for Pavement Construction: A Review

Abstract

India is considered to be one of the most fast paced developing nations around the globe. It comprises the developmental activities in the energy, transport, agricultural and industrial sectors. The development of highway construction in particular is of great interest to engineers in India because roads form the major means of connecting small villages to large cities. This paper aims to highlight the need of modern construction techniques especially in pavement construction and particularly deals with Foamed Bitumen. Foamed Bitumen is sustainable bitumen used in the construction of roads. This work reviews the materials and methodology of producing foamed bitumen along with analyzing its pros and cons.
