Precast Construction in India-Opinion of Construction Professionals

Abstract

Housing problem in India has become acute due to rapid growth of population and urbanization. Increasing cost of materials, labor and delay in completion of project are the major issues of concern. There are so many factors which are responsible for delay. Precast construction can be viewed as an alternative to solve these problems to some extent. In the present work an effort is made to seek the opinion of constructions professionals about prefabricated construction. The survey research methodology has been used for this purpose. The questionnaire covers the various aspects of construction. There are 35 questions in all. The target population consists of local construction contractors, civil engineers, developer in Gwalior and Consultants from Delhi NCR. The questionnaire was distributed personally and through mail.
