Abstract

Earthquake resistant design is a very concerning issues. The Seismic Fragility analysis of
structure is the indispensable part of the seismic risk assessment. Considering the large
number of time history analyses for different Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) is the most
accurate method for estimating the seismic fragility of structure. The method is not
computationally efficient. The underlying fact is time history analysis takes too much time
and larger memory of computer. For this reason, this paper used two different approaches.
The first approaches includes the indication of damage states by means of pushover analysis.
After that nonlinear time history analysis is conducted. Then the probability of failure was
calculated and lognormal distribution was done for estimating fragility curve. After that a
developed algorithm SPO2FRAG is used to estimate fragility curve. The pushover curve and
the dynamic properties of the structure are used in SPO2FRAG. The reason of using
SPO2FRAG is to observe the accuracy of results. It was found that the algorithm has great
accuracy for estimating fragility curve.
