Abstract

The capacity of the solar power plant is too large and is very difficult to monitor and maintain it manually. Detecting the faults manually in the solar panels when there are several panels is a very difficult and expensive task. Also, each panel set requires a digital meter to collect the data. Managing the data from all the panels manually is also a challenging task. This demands the need for a monitoring system. To handle the problems in the existing system, we have proposed a health monitoring system for each solar panel using a Sub-1 GHz wireless network. In this system, the parameters of each panel from the whole solar plant would be sent to the source end of the solar power plant and from there the data will be sent to the server end. Then the health of the whole Solar Plant is monitored and analyzed using LabVIEW anywhere and anytime. The administrator can receive the data and also analyze the abnormalities of a solar panel or the whole solar power plant. This paper will introduce the compilation of protocols between MSP430 and Sub-1 GHz technology, and the successive data Aggregation and transmission process.
