Challenges of Rail Traffic Management Systems in India

Indian Railways from the last decade is expanding in all parts of our country including urban and remote areas. A high volume of passenger and goods traffic has become an utmost challenge for the safety & security of the personnel. Increasing population, urbanization of remote parts, demand for the rail network in remote areas, and new economic development is a challenge to today’s one fifty-year age-old rail network. A recent accident in Punjab and heavy rains this year all over the country have cropped up a major limitation of rail safety, traffic management, and security of passengers as well as goods. This paper focuses on the challenges for today's rail network management system.
