Automatic Number Plate Recognition for Intelligent Transport System

The Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPR) is an installed framework that consequently identifies the area of the number plate and perceives the characters present in it, and furthermore, shows the Indian state in which the vehicle has a place. It has a wide range of applications, ranging from efficient parking admission to better traffic control, complex security systems, and toll booths. In this project, we make use of free tools such as Python, Tensor Flow, Open Computer Vision Library, and Easy OCR to implement it. Monitoring and detecting vehicles of those who violate traffic rules has become a difficult task. Therefore, there arises a need for an Automatic Number Plate Recognition System. Even though there have been advancements in the field of ANPR systems, it remains a challenging task to accurately locate the license plate and extract its characters due to various factors such as lighting conditions, the orientation of the number plate, the colour of the number plate, and the speed of the vehicle. In this proposed system, we provide a better model considering success rate, image quality, orientation, and different lighting conditions.
