Abstract

This research paper presents an innovative solution called TypeSafe, designed to enhance the security of online accounts and transactions. The paper addresses the limitations of traditional one-time passwords (OTPs) by proposing the integration of keystroke dynamics, a biometric technique that identifies individuals based on their unique typing patterns. By analyzing various aspects of keystrokes, such as timing, duration, cadence, and rhythm, the system generates distinct patterns specific to each user. To bolster security even further, TypeSafe incorporates a firewall system that safeguards the server and thwarts unauthorized access attempts, as well as defends against attacks exploiting authentication vulnerabilities. This multi-layered approach provides a comprehensive defense against potential threats. To evaluate the effectiveness of TypeSafe, a series of experiments were conducted. The results demonstrated that this new method not only offers robust security measures but also maintains user-friendliness. By leveraging individuals' typing habits, TypeSafe introduces an additional layer of protection that is less susceptible to common attacks like phishing and interception. The proposed solution addresses the shortcomings of traditional OTPs and offers a promising alternative in the realm of online security. By combining keystroke dynamics and a firewall system, TypeSafe provides a robust defence against unauthorized access attempts and attacks targeting the authentication process. Moreover, the user-friendly nature of TypeSafe ensures a seamless experience for individuals while significantly reducing the risk of account compromise and fraud.
