A Survey on Compression Techniques for Satellite Images using Various Wavelet Transforms

Abstract

The remote sensing images collected from various satellites are much heavier in size and make it difficult to send a greater number of images to the base station. Various compression techniques have been incorporated to reduce the size of satellite images. Wavelet transforms are used in both lossless and lossy compression methods. In this paper, we review the compression techniques of satellite imagery through various wavelet transform methods.
