Abstract

A poultry farm is a cage where domesticated birds such as chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese are raised to produce meat or eggs for food. The purpose of this study is to determine how the pandemic crisis has impacted the distribution and production of poultry products in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. The pandemic crisis has had a significant impact on many economic sectors around the world, including poultry farms. According to the research, the poultry farms were severely impacted by the COVID-19 because of the lockdown and rumors that the poultry farms could be the source of the disease transmission to humans. Poultry is a major industry in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. The number of poultry farms operating in Cabiao is 16, and most of them have been inactive due to the pandemic crisis. Cabiao is a neighboring town of San Isidro, which is included in towns that were restricted in August. Veterinarians and poultry owners were forced to kill approximately 300,000 birds due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which included bird flu. This study shows that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija has severely affected businesses and the poultry sector, including the demand for broiler chicken and eggs, which has affected the prices of poultry products and put pressure on suppliers, farmers, intermediaries, and merchants.
