Background: Nutraceutical is a general term for products made from food that positively impact health as they prevent the onset of many life-threatening diseases like diabetes, cancer, and many more. Nutraceuticals emphasize prevention over treatment. The Government of India's Ministry of Health & Family Welfare formed the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) as a statutory organization. The FSSAI is tasked with safeguarding and promoting public health through regulation and oversight of food safety. The FSSAI has issued a directive that states the use of nutraceutical products in India that contain PABA (Para Amino Benzoic Acid), Vanadium, Selenium Dioxide, Inosine, and several other ingredients should be prohibited with immediate effect for safety concerns.
The main body of the abstract: The fundamental purpose of this paper is to outline the availability of restricted ingredients in nutraceutical products in India. The research was conducted to gather information from numerous marketing websites, and it revealed that the products were available in the Indian market. My research revealed that nutraceutical items with banned components are still exported to India and are readily available for purchase by Indian consumers, which is a repudiation of the FSSAI order.
Conclusions: Several health problems could arise if restricted ingredients are used in nutraceutical products. If the particular products mentioned in the paper are safe to use and follow individual safety limitations, they may be sold in India as generic ingredients rather than health supplements.
