Abstract

Contrary to the traditional trend, more recent studies revealed that impostorism is a common experience with negative well-being correlates. However, most research measured well-being as the absence of ill-being indicators. Guided by Seligman’s (2011) PERMA model of well-being, this study explored the relationship between impostorism and the well-being of Filipino college students. Data were collected from students (n = 640) of all levels conveniently sampled from nine colleges at Central Luzon State University. Descriptive statistics and Pearson product-moment correlation were used to analyse the data. Results indicated an average impostorism, positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment, and overall well-being. As expected, there was an inverse relationship between impostorism and PERMA as individual elements. The correlations were weak but significant. Similarly, a weak but significant negative relationship between impostorism and overall well-being was found. Theoretical implications, limitations, recommended future studies, and potential practical applications based on the findings are discussed.
