Abstract

The Development of Water Level Monitoring and Broadcast System is designed to address the dissemination of information on flood levels. It was also developed to automate the transmission of information using VHF/UHF as transmission to the concerned agencies for updating the real-time water level of the flood. The researchers used the prototyping method in developing the device. It was used to critically examine the technical issues associated with the device at a lesser cost. In developing the prototype, the researchers used the following active components: Arduino mega 2560 rev3, water level sensor, mp3 module with a memory card, and RF transceiver. The device was tested, and the results are as follows:
1. The device successfully transmits water level data and information to different listening stations and posts. 2. The level sensors and mp3 module were able to respond immediately to the controller. However, during the conduct of the study, there are also problems encountered such as availability of the materials used and Electromagnetic interference (EMI) of the controller to the RF transceiver. After developing, assembling, programming, and testing the device, the researchers concluded that this water monitoring and the broadcast system could provide information about the water level elevation and provide warnings to the community and other concerned agencies through Public Address System. It can be deployed in the watershed, water storage facility, flood-prone areas, riverways, and dams.
