Abstract

This research was driven by the necessity to verify and confirm that GSM Network Providers adhere to the quality of service (QoS) standard in their network about the regulations set forth by the regulatory authority. The GSM network operators must follow certain key performance indicators (KPI) established by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to provide effective services in the nation. Radiofrequency optimization is a routine task done to preserve QoS in a competitive market context. This study examined how the Mobile Telecommunications Nigeria (MTN) network used bandwidth to track customer performance and data usage. To find out how to optimize traffic management by achieving effective capacity and effective bandwidth for QoS requirements, MATLAB simulation was used. Data network characteristics revealed that there was no network congestion when bandwidth utilization was less than 20 Mbps.
